Does this work? Got2b Mind Blowing Xpress Dry Styling Spray

Friday, 29 May 2015

It's a fact that I hate to dry my hair. No wait, I loathe drying my hair. It sucks and its boring. It takes what feels like forever because its so long and thick and anything that could help me to get it done more quickly would be a dream come true. After all, I'd much rather be blogging ;)

So, enter the Got2b Mind Blowing Xpress Dry Styling Spray. I came across this on the Superdrug website (its also available in store), and as well as being completely drawn in by the statement turquoise and rose bottle, I was intrigued with the promise of speeding up blow dry time as well as detangling and conditioning the hair in a fraction of the usual styling time. This product claims to work by repelling water droplets away from the hair to reduce the drying time.
To use this you simply spritz it onto towel dried hair and blow dry as usual. It also provides heat defense, which is a fantastic bonus - especially for people with unruly and damaged hair like mine.

I usually run a brush through my hair as I blow dry it to reduce frizz and help it stay straight.
So, I spritzed this in and began to dry my hair. The first thing I noticed was the lovely scent - it's so light and refreshing! I also liked how this settled so evenly into my hair - not leaving parts of it crispy and hard looking.
However, after 10 minutes of drying I was starting to lose hope. And after another 10 minutes I had lost it completely. Maybe it's because my hair is so thick and long, but I really didn't find this product effective in the speed department at all. I like it for it's other properties - it certainly did detangle my hair and made it much less frizzy, but unfortunately it didn't do much for me in the way of reducing my drying time.

So, does this work? If you're looking for a pretty, affordable detangler and heat defense, then buy this. But if, like me, you are on a desperate hunt for a dry-time reducer, then this isn't the product for you. I have to add that I have used this 5 times to make sure that my results were accurate and I wasn't just having a bad hair day, but each time I found myself to be disappointed.
I love the Got2b range, and they have some wonderful products that I swear by, including the Oil-licious styling oil and the Sexy Big Volume Mousse so by no means will I be abandoning this brand, but this one was a definite miss for me!

Have you come across a good drying time reducer? I'd love to try some more!

Wedding Inspiration; Decor

Wednesday, 27 May 2015

Our wedding is fast approaching and my mind is turning to decor. Since we are having an autumn wedding, I am drawing heavily on natural aspects and warm, rich colours. I really like the idea of decorative pumpkins in an array of colours and sizes to keep things interesting and different. There is an old fireplace in our venue and I was really inspired by this pumpkin 'fire' that I found on pinterest. I think something like this would look amazing!
I really enjoy the idea of low lighting, its very romantic and atmospheric and I have already begun buying electric tealights - as our venue does not permit naked flames indoors. I would love to create something like this decorative 'apple bobbing' station - but it will have to stay outside so that I can use floating candles in it.
As another natutal aspect, I love the idea of these pinecone garlands. I dont want to give away too much info, but the bridesmaids' bouquets include pinecones, so think this would be a nice touch!

As a fun touch, I think this natural wood over-sized photo frame would be brilliant! It will keep guests entertained, can be placed in or outdoors (depending on the weather) and the photos will make wondeful keeepsakes.
These lanterns are a beautiful way to direct guests to the reception venue. I think they would look perfect along the pavement and up to the door of the venue - especially as night falls and the candles illuminate the beautiful oranges of the pumpkins!
I think these acorn candle displays are so cute. They would look wonderful dotted around the place and keep in with the rustic, natural theme!
I think the idea of remembering loved ones who are no longer with us is beautiful. They may not be present at the wedding in body, but they will be there in spirit and in our hearts,  I will certainly be having a memorial candle somewhere at both the ceremony and the reception.
This milk churn decorated with seasonal flowers and plants is gorgeous. It is something a little different than floral centrepieces like we see at every other wedding.
Keeping things natural is important at our wedding, and this bark and candle display is something i can't do without. I think it will be so pretty on tables at the reception.

I am really enjoying wedding planning so far and cant wait to see our plans take shape!

My 10 Commandments of MakeUp

I recently did a similar post to this over on the Bella & Bear blog for 10 beauty commandments, and it got me to thinking what my own make up commandments would be.
It's always important to take care of your skin - not just with a good skincare routine, but also with good quality and well looked after make up and make up tools, so here are my 10 commandments of Make Up!

What would you include in your 10 commandments of make up and beauty?

Current Skincare Routine

Tuesday, 26 May 2015

Skincare has always been an important part of my beauty routine, but since my wedding is coming up I have suddenly taken it to a whole new level! I am a woman possessed! I love nothing more than trying out new skincare pieces and my Superdrug Beauty Card has taken quite a beating recently!

I have been trying to keep my skin guessing by using different cleansers. I use the Superdrug naturally radiant hot cloth cleanser in the morning. It comes with a muslin cloth and it's a really lovely way to start the day. It leaves my skin feeling soft and refreshed.
In the evenings I switch to the B.clean melting gel cleanser. This stuff is amazing! When I bought it I thought 'how does it melt, then?' but it really does. Once water is added it just turns liquidy and so super moisturising.
I work both of these cleansers over my skin with The Body Shop facial brush - it removes all dead skin cells and stimulates circulation to leave the complexion bright and radiant.
I also use a small amount of the Superdrug Naturally radiant micro polish scrub every other day to keep my skin young and fresh. Its mulberry scent is really growing on me.

To remove my eye makeup, I have recently been using the L'oreal Skin Perfecting Micellar Gel Eye Make up Remover. I usually swear by the NIVEA double effects eye make up remover but this stuff blows it our of the water. It makes my eyes feel so clean and awake and the micellar formula means all traces of makeup are easily removed.
After cleansing and exfoliating I like to spritz my face with the Superdrug Vitamin E Refreshing Toning Mist, it helps to hydrate skin and the scent it so relaxing.
To end my morning skin care routine, I generously apply Palmers Cocoa Butter Daily Facial Lotion. It has that lovely cocoa butter smell and hydrates my skin perfectly. I allow this to fully absorb and then begin applying my makeup, so I have a smooth canvas.
For my night time skin care routine I love using the NIVEA daily essentials Regenerating Night Cream, it is so rich and thick and the scent is very comforting.

Instead of foundation, I have recently taken to BB Creams. They give the same flawless appearance as a foundation would but they are much healthier for the skin and really keep it moisturised. I am loving the Garnier Oil Free BB Cream right now as it comes in a range of shades, lasts all day and is very affordable.
To keep my body smooth and hydrated I love trying out different shower gels and creams. My favorite at the moment is the Cafe de Bain Softening Shower Cream in coconut macaroon. This product has it all. The packaging is pretty, the scent is sweet and lingering and it really does what it promises. My skin feels soft and supple after use! There are a range of delectable fragrances in this line including 'Cherry & Almond' and 'Raspberry & Rose'.
Moisturiser wise, I have been loving the Garnier Body Intensive 7 Day Hydrating Lotion in Aloe Vera. I'm sot sure that I would really leave it 7 days between applications, but it really does hydrate the skin and the aloe scent is very refreshing.
In an effort to firm my skin since Elias was born I have been using the Palmers Cocoa Butter Firming Butter on my tummy, and occasionally on my arms and legs too. I'm not sure that it has really firmed up my skin (and trust me, I'm not naive enough to believe that a cream alone could do that anyway!) but it does have a lovely cocoa scent and at the very least it helps to keep my skin moisturised an nourished.
In addition to the firming butter I have also been using the Nspa Nourishing Stretch Mark Oil on my post-pregnancy tummy. I was quite lucky and didn't come off with very bad stretch marks, but I still know that they are there and, although they will never disappear, I feel much better knowing that I am doing something to fade them. This oil has a wonderful sweet almond smell and doesn't leave the skin all sticky and wet - I think this is a great product for anyone looking to inject some moisture into the skin, not just those with stretch marks.
Now more than ever I am trying so hard to take care of my feet. They are often an area which people neglect - especially during the winter months when they are not 'on show'. The Body Shop Peppermint Reviving Foot Soak is just the trick for keeping my feet soft and healthy. I soak my feet in this once a week and follow with a D.I.Y pedicure and a generous application  of Soap and Glorys Heel Genius (not pictured.)

It can be tricky to fit in a full skincare routine every day, but at the very least make sure you are effectively removing your makeup, and moisturising your skin! What are some of your skincare favourites? I'd love to discover some things to try next!

Maybelline Haul!

Thursday, 21 May 2015

If you are a long time reader of my blog then youll know that I cant get enough of Maybelline! They have been my favourite make up brand for some time and have recently had some fantastic releases which I am enjoying very much.
One thing I do find with Maybelline, though, is that they have such a wide range of products which are only available in certain areas of the world. So, I have done a little research and picked up a couple of pieces from around the world, as well as some of the new UK releases!

Since trying the Maybelline better skin foundation some time ago and not really liking it, I have pretty much avoided Maybelline foundations, however, I was super tempted by the new Dream Flawless Nude Liquid FoundationAs shallow as it is, I think I was most drawn to this foundation because of the beautiful ombre bottle. It graduates from a beautiful pearl pink to the colour of the foundation within and is just so striking! I'm not sure about the dropper applicator for this as I don't find it all that effective, but once I have applied a few drops onto my Bella & Bear 'The Lynx' flat kabuki brush and blended it over my skin the result really is flawless. It is so lightweight and breathable, yet the coverage is good enough to give that flawless finish and it lasts on my skin all day.
The original Maybelline Baby Skin primer is also something I have tried before and, even though I liked the overall effect I was just a little unsure on the texture. I had heard great things about the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant fatigue blur but just couldn't find it anywhere so stuck with my Benefit Porefessional instead. So when I heard that Maybelline had released the Baby skin Instant fatigue blur in the UK I snapped it up and have never looked back. I always buy this on eBay as it is half the price of instore (I only pay £3 a tube brand new). I love the look and feel of this product so much. It has a gorgeous pastel pink colour and when applied it is just so light and refreshing. It doesn't give the clogged up feeling that a lot of pore erasers and primers seem to and it really blurs my skin to give it a soft and smooth appearance.
Something exciting and different which I also picked up on eBay is the Maybelline Jelly Glow blush. This is sold in Japan in 2 shades and I decided to try shade 2 'Fresh Pink'. This cost me a tiny £2.20 and although I wasn't sure what to expect, I just love it! The colour is really buildable and the feel of it is just so delicate and soft. In the palette it is springy like jelly but almost feels whipped like a mousse! I really hope Maybelline decide to bring this out in the UK as it is something I have really come to love and I'd love to try some more shades!

I'm not afraid to admit that I am totally addicted to mascara. I have a huge collection and I am on the hunt for the perfect one! I recently picked up the new Maybelline 'Lash Sensational mascara' and I have really grown attached to it. The brush is an all new 'layer-reveal' design and I believe it really does work! I like to use the curved thinner side of the wand to fan out and separate my lashes and then I go in with the thicker side to darken and volumize my lashes, and they always look amazing! I find that this mascara never clumps and really lasts all day - also, the tube is a pretty, pearl pink too ;)
I also recently picked up a tube of the new Maybelline 'Great Lash Big mascara'. The original 'Great lash mascara' was the first mascara I ever used and I had hoped that this would be every bit as good, but unfortunately it was not that at all. Although the wand applies the product nicely, I just found that it dried and flaked and ended up leaving black marks all over my eyelid. Sorry Maybelline, this one just wasn't for me.

Although I love my Collection Eye definition liquid liner, I have found that the last couple of tubes I purchased weren't quite as good as they used tobe, they seem to flake easily and do not last all day. So, I decided I would try out the new Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner. The fact that there is no fiddly brush, just a precise felt tip applicator appealed to me as I don't have the steadiest of hands. This liner is wonderful; it applies so smoothly and cleanly and is intensely dark. Although it is a little more expensive than I'd usually pay for an eyeliner, the results make it worth every penny. I find that this stays in place all day, too.
After using and enjoying the Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoo eyeshadows previously, I was very happy when Maybelline launched a few new shades here in the UK. I picked up shade 6 5'pink gold'. I love using this to highlight the inner corner of the eye as it is very brightening and has an eye-opening effect! These shadows are fantastic as they apply and blend smoothly like a cream/gel shadow but do not crease and appear as a powder shadow. I also like the fact that they can double as a gel liner, so you can create endless looks!

We've all come to know and love the Maybelline Baby Lips lip balms. Although some bloggers claim them to be overrated, I personally cant get enough of them. Okay, they don't *quite* make the 8 hour hydration they promise, but its not really much effort to re-apply some lip balm every couple of hours, is it?! I had been eyeing up the Maybelline Baby Lips DrR Rescue lip balms for quite some time - heck, I was even considering paying £8 for one from America, as they weren't yet available in the UK. But, it seems someone answered my prayers when I spotted them on the shelves in Superdrug recently! I picked up shades 'Too cool' - a translucent balm, and 'Coral Crave' - as the name suggests. a sheer coral tint. They have a wonderful minty scent and make the lips feel so hydrated and soft. I like to apply these before my lip pencil and lip stick as they make my lips soft and smooth! A definite winner and handbag staple!
Anyone who knows me will know that I'm obsessed with anything watermelon. So, I was super happy when I came across the Maybelline baby lips SPF20 in watermelon on eBay. This is available in Thailand and it is just so yummy. Of course I'm not saying that I sit and eat it but the scent and the feel is just so refreshing that I have easily become addicted. I sure hope that Maybelline decide to release this line in the UK soon!
On a never ending quest for the perfect nude lip, I decided to pick up a Maybelline Colour sensational shine gloss when I saw it on offer in Sainsbury's for just £2! I chose shade 'Mocha Glaze' and although it is a wonderful nude colour like I had hoped, I just cant get used to the feel of it on my lips. I have never been a big lip gloss fan, and even though this is one of the less gloopy or sticky ones I have tried, I just don't see myself using it regularly. If you enjoy lipglosses then I would recommend these as the doe foot applicator is so soft and easily applies an even amount of product across the lips, and it does stay in place for a good few hours, too!

Overall, a pretty good haul! Have you tried any new products recently?

* Younique moodstruck Mascara - A Game Changer?

Monday, 18 May 2015

I was recently contacted by a presenter for the beauty brand 'Younique' called Lianne, who asked me if I had heard of the Moodstruck Fiber Lash Mascara. Of course I have, and, boy, does it look good!
Like most girls, I dream of super long lashes everyday, without the hassle of falsies or extensions, so I was more than eager to give this product a try, as Lianne kindly sent me one!

The Packaging
The Younique Moodstruck Fiber lashes is presented beautifully. Encased in a protective shell lie 2 tubes of magic. 1, a transplanting gel and 2, natural fibres. These are the only tools needed for super long lashes up to 3x their usual length, and best of all they are made from all natural ingredients and are cruelty free! I really love the design of the case, its so sleek and expensive looking and feels so luxurious!

The Product
Younique Moodstrck fiber lashes is nothing short of amazing. It's more than just a mascara, its a statement piece for the eyes.
Its super easy to apply (but each one comes with it's own set of instructions, just incase you're unsure.) To get emphasised lashes you simply apply a coat of the transplanting gel to naked lashes, followed immediately by a coat of the natural fibers ( did I mention that they're made from green tea - how freakin' cool?!), you then seal it all in place with another coat of the transplanting gel. You will see results already. However, if you want more volume, then simply repeat the steps again and again until you are pleased with your look.
I have to admit, I was a little concerned that the fibres would clump and give my lashes that 'spider leg' look, but they didn't. They are so easy to work with and the transplanting gel brush separates and fans out the lashes effortlessly and beautifully.
I was also surprised that the transplanting gel was black. It sounds silly, but when I hear the word gel, I just assume it would be a clear formula, but this works so much better being black. Alternatively, you can use your favourite mascara in place of the transplanting gel.
Each tube is designed to last 3+ months if used every day, but I like to save mine for special occasions and days out! And, because the ingredients are all natural, this product doesn't damage the lashes at all, unlike false lashes.

The result.
As expected, I was thrilled with the result. I do have quite long lashes naturally but this enhanced them beyond anything I have tried before, and I love it. As you can see in my images above, just one coat makes a dramatic difference and two is almost as though wearing falsies - only better!
The Younique Moodstruck Fiber Lashes enhanced my eyes so much that I even love to wear it alone without any eye liner for a doll like effect!

So, would I say that this product is a game changer? Absolutely. There is no better feeling than having a set of super long lashes to bat, and knowing that they are all my own makes that feeling even more special. Once you've used the Younique Moodstruck fiber lashes, it is so hard to go back to regular mascara, you'll be addicted!

You can find out more and shop the Moodstruck Fiber lashes and all the other gorgeous Younique products (hello, lipstains!) directly from Liannes store right now, and you can join her facebook page too where she is currently running a raffle to win a Younique Stiff Upper Lip Lipstain at just £2 a ticket!
