The Birth of Baby Elias

Tuesday, 21 April 2015

Its been about 2 weeks since I last blogged, and as awful as I feel for that I have a very good excuse...

On Sunday 5th April, Our Beautiful Little Son Elias was born. Labour was a scary and exciting time and every moment since has been an adventure and a blessing.
Elias is a happy & healthy baby and we are so thankful for that. For the last 2 weeks we have been spending time as  family and introducing him to lots of lovely people.

Dans Paternity leave is over now and I am also back to working for Bella&Bear, which means I will also be picking up my blog again too. Although I may not be blogging as regularly as I was, my blog is still an important part of my life and I wont be neglecting it by any means!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter time (did you eat lots of chocolate?!), I am looking forward to a summer full of exciting blog posts so keep your eyes peeled!

March Favourites & Empties

Thursday, 2 April 2015

So, April is finally here and I am just a few days away from meeting our new baby! March seemed to speed by but I still managed to empty out a few of my beauty items - I've had a real thing for skin care lately so I found that I mostly emptied my skincare stash, but that's okay as it means I got to shop for some new things - You can read all about them in my Skincare haul post!

The first thing I have emptied out is a couple of my NIVEA moisturisers. I am a big NIVEA fan, their products smell great and they do exactly what you need them to - plus they are bargain prices, too! The NIVEA Pure & Natural Day Cream is super hydrating and leaves my skin so soft and radiant, I have really enjoyed using this and will certainly be picking up another when I next go shopping. The NIVEA Express Hydration primer is something I hadn't used before but ended up really enjoying. Rather than a rich moisturiser, it works to lightly hydrate the skin while providing an effective primer base for flawless make up application. I found it was very light and, although it took a while to absorb, it really helped my make up stay in place all day long.

The Maybelline Baby Skin Instant fatigue Blur cream is perfection in a tube! I am not ashamed to say that I am addicted to this! As well as making my skin look soft and smooth it is also great at making my make up application flawless. The cream is pastel pink, it smells good and it is so lightweight on the skin. It doesn't have that usual pore clogging feel which other primers have and I can honestly say that I am happy to just wear this without foundation! Needless to say, I have already bought a new tube.

The Garnier Cleansing Micellar water is a godsend! It effectively cleanses and refreshes my skin to leave it squeaky clean! I really like that you don't have to scrub the skin when using this, it glides on smoothly meaning that I wont be damaging delicate areas of the face. Although this product promises to remove all traces of make up I have never used it alone, I always use it after my cleanser to make sure all final traces are gone and it does really work for that. I like to be thorough with my skin care routine and as effective as I'm sure this could be, I just wouldn't want to use it solely.

Finally, I have just finished off my tub of BodyShop Mango Body Butter which XOXOMeaghan sent to me in our swap boxes. As with all of the Body Shop body butters, it is very creamy and super rich and leaves the skin feeling (and smelling) incredible! I love that the Body Shop don't test on animals and I cant wait to pick up another tub of this, it is the perfect summer scent and it lingers on the skin so you smell good for hours!

There have been a few products which I have really enjoyed using this month and just can't get enough of, so I feel like you should know about them!

Since having acrylic nails applied as a special treat in December my natural nails have suffered awfully - I won't be doing that again!
I have found that the Ciate Love Me Oil Almond Cuticle Oil has really helped my nails to repair and shine. I apply it once a week and it has really made a difference. It rubs in easily and, even better, I picked it up in TK Maxx for 40p! It was supposed to be £3.00 but when the lady scanned it, it seemed to be even cheaper! Bargain!

I have also really been enjoying using the Burts Bees Lemon Butter cuticle Cream. I was also sent this by XOXOMeaghan and ohmygosh it just smells so good that I want to eat it! I use this when I am painting my nails, in place of the Ciate cuticle oil, as it allows my polish to stay in place without peeling or lifting and it has nourished my brittle nails and cuticles so well!

As for polishes, I have been loving the Barry M Plumpy Top Coat. This is actually designed for use with the Barry M Gelly polishes to give them that salon Gel polish shine but I find it works perfectly with all my polishes. It leaves them so shiny and the dry time is minimal too, so its an all round winner!

I have also been using the China Glaze 'Inner Beauty' polish. It gives that perfect nude nail look which is great for when I want my nails to look neat but not too bold or over done! I always buy my China Glaze polishes on Nail Polish Direct as they only cost £3.95 each! If you haven't tried this website then I highly recommend it, they have lots of top brand polishes (including O.P.I) at affordable prices and delivery is free!

Make up wise, there have been a few pieces that have stood out to me this month.

The Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara is a dream come true! The wand is curved which means I can reach every lash and it is super black, making my lashes look dark and thick. I find that this mascara doesn't clump or flake and my lashes just look so long and lovely when using it.

For days when I want a little more oomph in my lashes I love using the Eyelure Pro lash individual lash extensions. I picked this triple pack up in savers for just £1.50 and they are usually £12! The lashes are easy to apply and the glue helps them to stay in place all day and beyond. There are different lengths included in the box so that you can make the overall look as natural or OTT as you like. I like to brush a little mascara through once they're applied to blend them seamlessly with my natural lashes and to make them a little darker.

This Garnier Anti-dark circles 2 in 1 tinted eye roll on is wonderful. The roll ball action helps to hydrate and stimulate the eye area making them appear more awake while the tinted product helps to cover any pesky dark circles with ease. This is so simple to use, is lightweight and blends into the skin seamlessly.

For perfectly blushed cheeks, I have loved the MUA Whipped Velvet Blush pots. 'Spry' is my favourite shade as it gives the perfect amount of colour to the face without leaving you looking like a clown. The mousse like formula is super soft and blendable and feels as though you aren't wearing it at all. Plus, they are only £3 each!

Once spring comes around I really love to invest in some pretty accessories and there have been a couple which have stood out to me this month!

I am totally smitten with my new floral watch by Eton. I picked this up in Essential Jewellery for just £20 and it hasn't left my wrist since. They came in all different colours and are just adorable! I think this is the perfect spring accessory and the white flowers mean I can wear it with any outfit. The only trouble is that it is a little big, but because the links are the flowers it cant be adjusted - it hasn't stopped me wearing it every day though!

I have also loved using my 'The Pluckers' Tweezer Set by Bella & Bear. I work for Bella & Bear so I always love to try out their products and this is one that I just cant leave alone! It has a pair of tweezers for every job (slanted, pointed and straight) and they are made from super tough material so they wont misalign! I also love the gorgeous floral, protective pouch! It keeps the tweezers safely in place, is great for when you travel and (bonus!) it looks super cute on my vanity table!

March was a great month, but I am so happy to be saying hello to April. There are lots of exciting things for me to look forward to this month and I am also glad that it means warmer weather is on its way!
What are some things you have loved this March?
