Lifestyle | My BabyShower

Wednesday, 11 February 2015

The Sunday just passed was my 24th birthday (old, right?!)! Being 8 Months pregnant means you cant do anything too crazy but I enjoyed spending an evening in with some friends on the Saturday and then on the Sunday afternoon my amazing auntie and cousin threw me a baby shower!

I had never been to one before so I was really unsure of what to expect. All I knew was that my auntie and cousin had spent a lot of time organising it as I had received my invite way back in December!

There were 14 of us at the shower altogether - it was so nice to see my friends and family in one house celebrating together for such a happy occasion. My Auntie, Cousin, Sister and Mum had spent all morning putting up decorations and making the house look so adorable and inviting!
I wore this gorgeous blue lace maternity dress that I picked up in the NewLook sale for just £9! It was comfortable and fitted the occasion so well! I'm not so good at doing my hair but I tried to curl the ends so it was a little nicer than usual!
When I arrived, my auntie greeted me with this adorable 'Mummy To Be' sash. I'd never seen anything like it and it was so cute - I just didn't want to take it off. I wonder if I could wear it to the hospital hehe!

We played some fun games throughout the shower (including one where you couldn't say 'baby' for half an hour - it's harder than it sounds at a baby shower!) and there was a lovely table of food prepared for everyone to nibble at - my sister and cousin even baked and decorated some uh-mazing cupcakes which certainly went down a treat!
As a special surprise, each guest had been sent a blank piece of bunting to decorate along with their invite. When I arrived the bunting was strung up around the house for me to see. Each one was so creative and thoughtful! Above is just a small amount of them. Some had poems, some had glitter and there was everything from hand drawn pictures to adorable scrabble pieces. I was so touched by this as each one is so personal and they are the perfect keepsake.

I never expected to receive any gifts at the shower, I was just happy to spend the afternoon making memories with the special people in my life. However, everyone was amazingly generous and our little boy was so spoilt with gifts!
We were given some gorgeous hand made hampers which were filled with essentials like baby wipes, shampoos, bibs and beyond. My auntie also made an incredible nappy cake - it was genius and I don't know how she had the patience to do it!
My cousins gifted us this adorable vintage style trunk which was filled with gorgeous little outfits - I cant wait to put it in the nursery - it will make a perfect storage piece and look so cute all the while! They even gave us a Marvel story book for Dan to read to Elias when he is a little older! Needless to say, Dan was smitten!
Something I am super impressed at was this perfect name plaque we were given! It was hand made by one of my dear friends fiance. It will look perfect in the nursery and I just love how well it matches with the theme we have chosen! It is so unique and just gorgeous!
Everyone was so thoughtful and generous with their gifts and Dan and I were completely overwhelmed - we certainly had fun looking through everything and organising it all into the nursery for the next couple of evenings!

Here are just a small amount of the clothes we were gifted at the shower! The cardigans in the top left image were knitted by Dan's nan and are just so sweet! They will be perfect in the spring time.
The babygrows are so adorable and I love all the cute little patterns on them!
How cute are these little outfits (bottom left)?! They are perfect for 3-6 months and will look so cute on our little boy!
These little treasures (bottom left) are so sweet and the moustache t-shirt is so cute (my cousin knows me so well!).
I just cant wait to see our little boy in all these outfits! Each one is so cute and just to mine and Dans taste!

I had such a perfect time at the baby shower and I'll certainly never forget it. I am so grateful that Dan and I have such thoughtful and kind people around us who are just as excited as we are! Elias is due in less than 8 weeks time and, as scared as I am for labour, I am really looking forward to meeting him!
