Make Up Academy Elysium Palette

Monday, 15 December 2014

Its not often I come across something which changes my entire make up routine. But this little treasure just changed that. It is the Make Up Academy 'Elysium' Palette and it is just dreamy!
Well, just look at it!
I had seen the palette about before but was never that fussed over it. However, I was looking it over in Superdrug recently and decided that it was only £6, so it was certainly worth a try. And now I don't know how I did without it.

Full of pinks, neutrals and earthy tones in a mix of matte and pearl shades this is just the perfect palette. I feel like it has somewhat of a 'Victoria's Secreat' feel to it. Allowing you to create that barely there yet glamorous smoky eye.
10 shades for £6 can't be bad and, although they may look a little less than natural, don't be fooled, the shades blend so well that you really feel like an angel when wearing them.

From bottom left to right, the shades are;
Astral; A beautiful rose gold pearl shade which is perfect for highlighting the inner corner of the eye.
Grace; A pearl taupe shade with hints of bronze running through. Perfect to smoke out the outer corner of the eye for a soft yet sexy look.
Smoke; A simple matte black shadow. An eye shadow palette staple but exciting nonetheless. Great pay off and blends very well.
Seraphic; A shimmer bronze which is perfect for everyday use,. Although it shimmers it is a great natural shade which will blend well with a matte pink tone.

From top left to right the shades are;
Air; A simple light shade perfect for creating a base or highlighting the brow bone.
Cherub; An adorable pearl rose shade which works brilliantly to give the inner corner of the eye a pop of colour. It is pink, yes, but it is also natural enough to pull of from day to day.
Charm; A gorgeous matte dusty pink shade which I love to apply all over the lid and smoke out. Looks perfect when paired with 'cherub'
Refine; A beautiful matte pink shadow with hints of brown which is perfectly bendable and buildable.

Entrance; A taupe brown with golden shimmer. Works perfectly on the outer corner of the eye to create a smoky look and is beautiful when paired with 'Refine'
Adore; A deep plum shimmer which gives immediate glam to any smoky eye - just blend it out and build it up slowly.

In place of a sponge applicator the palette also comes with this handy duo eye pencil.
One end works as a standard black pencil liner while the other is a wonderful pencil highlight to  bring some light and life to the eyes!

This really is the ultimate palette and you can create so many looks with it; both simple and more dramatic. I love this palette so much and I cant believe that it only cost me £6 - it is said to be a dupe for Urban Decays' 'Naked 3' palette and I can see why -  and even if not, there is no grumbling at £6 for 10 shadows plus a duo pencil.
All of the shadows have wonderful pay off which can be built up and blended easily and they stay in place incredibly well, the packaging is sturdy and robust and Make Up Academy definitely remain a firm favourite with this release!
