LUSH BubbleGum Lip Scrub & Snow Fairy

Thursday, 26 December 2013

Hello Honeybee's <3

Im sure all of you have heard of LUSH! before - they are a company that handmake all their products with fresh, natural ingredients and (much to my hapiness!) DO NOT test on animals! <3

Recently, when me and Dan were shopping in Basingstoke, I spotted a little LUSH shop and persuaded Dan to Look inside, and He was very sweet and Bought me a couple of products!

  Snow Fairy - £3.50
BubbleGum Lip Scrub - £5.50

This little pot is amazing!
It is a LipScrub which is perfect for this time of year when our lips tend to dry and flake a little.
I chose the Scrub in 'Bubblegum' as I loved the colour and the smell is just beautiful - so sickly sweet!

The scrub is made from castor sugar and organic jojoba oil which means it is completely edible and it tastes like candyfloss!! ;)
You can see that the scrub is nice and coarse - and let me tell you a little goes a long, long way!
All you need to do is scoop some scrub onto your ring finger and then gently buff it all over your lips in tiny circle motions - then to remove it you just lick it off!!
How lovely!

After using this just once my lips looked and felt very soft, smooth and hydrated!

There are also other flavours available - even a special red Christmas one which tastes like cola cubes!

If you are a LUSH fan I'm sure you have tried this product before!
LUSH release this every Christmas and each time I just wanna load my cupboards with it so I have it to use all year!

Snow Fairy is a gorgeous silky pink shower gel which comes in a range of sized bottles!
It contains amazing purple iridescent flecks and smells just incredible - the only thing I can relate it to is very sweet, sparkly pear drops!

The formula is very soft and leaves your skin with a gorgeous glow!

I would recommend all you girls (and guys!) try this before it runs out, as I guarantee you will get hooked!

Festive Pudding Pops!

Saturday, 21 December 2013

Howdy HoneyBees!

Christmas is Drawing closer & closer, so I thought it would be nice to share a recipe idea that you could use on those Christmas get togethers, when friends drop in, or even just to nibble when you're watching you're favourite Christmas film!

These adorable little Pudding pops will go down a treat! They're so yummy and very cute!

You need to start by making a chocolate cake! The recipe I usually follow is;
  • 4oz butter or margarine
  • 4oz caster sugar
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 4oz self raising flour
  • 2oz cocoa powder
  • a few drops of liquid vanilla!

Add all this into a large bowl and mix thoroughly - this will get lots of air in and make it all lovely and fluffy!

Now grease a cake tin with some butter and pour your cake mixture into the tin.
You need to cook this for 15-20 minutes on Gas mark 5 - check regularly with a probe to make sure your cake is cooked right through!

Once your cake is cooked, remove it from the oven and allow it plenty of time to cool.

While your cake is cooling, you can make some chocolate buttercream. The recipe I used for this was;

2oz Butter
4oz icing sugar
1oz cocoa powder
1tbsp milk

You don't need much of this as we are just going to use it to bind the cake balls together! It should be pretty thick and stiff - you don't want it to be all runny and sticky!
*If you don't want to make icing you could use Nutella for this stage*

Now that your cake is cool .....
CAKE FIGHHHHTTT!!
haha! Just kidding - but you do need to smash it up!
Crumble it into small pieces in a large bowl, you could do this with your hands or an electric whisk - either will work fine!

Now add in the buttercream (or Nutella!) to your smashed up cake and blend them together until they start to stick a little, just add a little at a time to make sure they don't get too sticky!
Then pick up small amount and press the mixture together into a ball shape with your hands - they should be quite firm!
Pop these on a parchment lined baking tin and place in the fridge to harden for an hour!
I made 10, but you could make more if you made them smaller!

Mmmmm! Chocolate! I melted 200g Galaxy milk chocolate in the microwave - but a double boiler would work just as well.

The next thing I did was dip some straws (or cake pop sticks) in to the chocolate and the press them firmly into the cake balls.
Let this dry and then lift them up and cover them completely in the chocolate!

Let this dry in the fridge for about 10-20 minutes.

After they were dried I took the sticks out again (I just popped them in as they were easier to handle and less messy when covering with chocolate that way!)

Now you are going to need to melt 100g white chocolate! I am using Milkbar! I also had some edible golden glitter to hand - but you don't have to use this :)

Wait until the chocolate has cooled a little (but not gone hard) and Gently drizzle some of it on the top of each cake in a star shape - it will drip a little but this makes a great effect!
** if you are using edible glitter, sprinkle a little on now!**
Let this dry!

Finally, your going to need some red and green icing - you could make this yourself or use ready tubed icing - like me!
First take the green icing and pipe on some holly leaves! I just did this by drawing 3 small wiggly lines :)
Then take your red icing and pipe on a small circle in the middle of the leaves - this will be a cute little holly berry!

And now they're ready!
These yummy little bites look and taste beautiful! They will make a lovely addition to your Christmas treat table too! They are also perfect for people who don't like Christmas pudding (like me!) but don't want to miss out on the festivities!

Whats your favourite Christmas sweet?!

Elsa 'Frozen' Look

Thursday, 19 December 2013

Hello HoneyBee's!

Dan Took me & My sister to the Cinema Last Night to Watch the new Disney movie 'Frozen' && as predicted - I loved it! It was full of songs, cute characters and magic!!

I knew before I saw the movie that I wanted to do a Make Up Look Based on the Character Elsa, and after seeing it I was even more excited about it! She has Beautiful Porcelain skin, piercing Blue eyes, Amazing Shimmery Purple eye makeup on those Huuuge eyes of hers, and poppin' pink lips!

SOOOO .... Lets start ;)

As Allllllways, start with your face clean, make up free and dry!
For this look I am using these 'Silk Blue' contact lenses from 'Beautifeye', and I put them in before I began my make up as they sometimes make my eyes water!

I then applied this primer by MUA all over my face and neck - this evens out the complexion and allows your makeup to apply more smoothly and seamlessly!
I then applied This 'Undress your Skin' Foundation by MUA in shade 'Porcelain' all over my face and neck with a makeup wedge. I chose this light foundation as Elsa has very fair skin and I wanted to re-create that!

The next step was to conceal! I used my 'Hide&Conceal' Stick by MUA to highlight down the centre of my nose and under my eyes - I blended this in with the clean side of my makeup wedge.
I then buffed this 'Matte Perfect' Translucent powder all over my face with my Kabuki Brush to set my foundation in place and even it out!

Now its time do do your eye makeup!
I took this Pretty Pastels palette by MUA (on sale for £3 right now!) and applied the light purple all over my eye lid using a small fluffy brush - I apologise for the lack of images here, my camera didn't save some of them :/
I then applied a line of this chunky crayon by L.A Colors in 'Tropical Bliss' along my upper lash line and used my eyeshadow blending brush to wing and smoke it out into the lighter shade! This gives the eyes a little more depth and shape.

Next I created a thin stroke on my upper lash line with my Eye Definition liquid liner by collection. This gives the eye great definition and will balance out the eyeshadow against your eye colour.

I then applied a light layer of my 'LASH BOOM' mascara by MUA to separate my lashes, and I followed this by applying some false lashes on the outer corner of the eye - I used my Kissed Lashes in 'the flirty one' and just cut the outer one third of the lash off to use - this makes the eye appear very character like and open.
To make sure the lashes stay put I applied another layer of my mascara - this also helps to blend them in with your natural lashes!

Next I took my Black eyeliner pencil in 'Starry Night' by MUA, and lined the outer two thirds of my lower water line!
Elsa had quite a dark lower waterline so this re-creates it perfectly!
I finished this off by coating my lower lashes with the same mascara.
I noticed that Elsa has quite straight brows, so I took my PowerBrow Pencil by MUA and drew these in! I didn't want them to be completely straight or it would be hard to get good facial expression, so I added a slight arch.

I wanted to create a slim nose, like Elsa, so I took this bronzing powder by MUA and gently dusted down the sides of my nose with my contour brush to narrow it.
The next step is to add in those beautiful flushed cheeks - so I took a candy pink powder blusher, like this one by MUA in shade '1', and buffed it onto the apples of my cheeks - I wanted this to be quite noticeable so I applied a little more than usual.

I loved Elsa's little freckles in the movie so I made sure to include them on my look too!
I just dotted them over my cheeks and nose using this blonde eyebrow pencil by MUA!

&& the final step, make up wise, is to fill in those lovely lips!
I am using this gorgeous pink lipstick in shade '3'  by MUA and I'm filling in my lips with this lip brush by MUA, this means I could get defined lines and a neat shape.
Elsa's lips dont have much of a cupids bow, so I decided to draw across mine to make it a little more straight! I then filled the lips in completely with the same shade!

All I did to finish off the look was add this lovely wig which I got from eBay for just £3.99 - I braided it to look like Elsa's hair and added on these cute snowflakes - which I also got from eBay!
I didn't have a blue dress so I decided to use this sheer sleeved top I had to keep in with the neutral theme!

**You might notice I also have an icicle crown on in the third image! I made this myself - you can find out how just below my 'Shop My Kit' Section! **

Shop My Kit

Tools;

Icicle Crown!

I made this icicle crown as an extra to my look - I know Elsa didn't wear one in the film but I thought it would be extra nice and fun!

I got these icicles from a local craft shop for £1.50 - you can find them in any local craft shop at this time of year! I also picked up this glue gun from the range for £6.50 and it came with 2 glue sticks which was more than enough!
I glued 4 of the icicles together at the base and then one more on each end sideways and at a slightly higher stage :)
I then cute some of this thick wire into 2 parts!

I finished the crown by wrapping the wire through the little holes at the bottom of the end 2 icicles and then gluing them down!
If your icicles don't have these little holes, just glue them down and hold them in place until the glue dries :)
The wire should go round behind the icicles to form the band of the crown which will sit on your head!
Make sure you fold the end of the wire round so that it doesn't scratch your scalp!

I made sure this stayed on my wig by sliding some bobbypins over the wire to secure it!

I hope you all enjoyed this look as much as I loved creating it! I wish i could wear make up like this all the time - its so cute and fun!

MakeUp Basics; Sparkly Smokey Eyes!

Thursday, 12 December 2013

Hello My Honeybee's..

Welcome back to My MakeUp Basics Series - We'll make MakeUp artists of you yet!

I hope you all found the Perfect Eyeliner Tutorial Useful!

Today I am continuing the series with a Helpful Tutorial on Creating beautiful smokey eyes! This look is perfect for any occasion - a lunch date, a party, date night, shopping - anything! It will enhance your eyes and give you a lovely glow!

As Always, you should start with a clean, dry, moisturised face! This will mean your makeup will stay put for hours and will apply flawlessly!

To create the smokey eyes I am going to be using The MUA Undress Me Too Palette (£4)!

When applying eyeshadow I always use an Eyelid primer - this gives your eyeshadow something to grip to and stops it from sliding around your face! I am using ELF's Eyelid primer (£1.50) and applying it all over my lid.

To Begin creating your smokey-ness, you will need a light brown matte shade of eyeshadow (number 1 on my first image!). Using a small round fluffy brush - Like this ELF Eye crease brush -  fill in your eyelid, and just above the crease. Try to bring this out to a winged shape (or a large V shape) on the outer edge of the eye!

Now take a darker brown shade (number 2 on my top image) - this can be matte or shimmer- and an angled eyeshadow brush like this MUA Eyeshadow contour brush and start by creating a large V shape on the outer corner of each eye, then blend it out by moving the brush in a windscreen wiper motion along your eye crease and small brushing motions along your upper lash line and on the outer 2 thirds of your eye.
BEAUTIFUL! ;)

Next take a black eyeshadow (labelled number 3 on my top image), this can also be matte or shimmer, and a flat eyeshadow brush, like this ELF smudge brush. You need to Gently draw a flick shape on the outer corner of your eye with the black eyeshadow - dont worry if it is not too neat for now!
You can also put a small amount along the outer third of your lower lashine - this will balance the eyeshadow out a little.

If you have a larger fluffy brush, Like this ELF Contour brush, then just gently brush over all of the eyeshadows to smudge and blend them together!
You should look something like this so far!

Now its time to add some extra definition! I am using this Collection Eye definition liquid liner (£2.99) and creating a small cat eye flick (see my Perfect eyeliner tutorial - here-  for a guide to getting the best out of your eyeliner!) - this will define your eyes and really make them pop!

The next step I do while the eyeliner is drying, is create a strong brow - this is quite a dramatic eye look so I feel that having a strong brow doesn't allow the face to look swamped from the dark eyeshadow!
To fill in my brows I am using this new MUA Luxe Power brow (£3) - They come in a range of shades and come with a highlighter on one end!

If you dont have a stick highlighter, a powder one will work just as well! I am using this MUA Undress your skin highlighter (£3) and the same ELF smudge brush (make sure you clean it off first!).
Just pick up a little highlighter on the brush and gently dust your brow bone (under your eyebrows) and, if you like, the inner corners of your eyes!

This step is optional but I always like to add a little sparkle when wearing this look to a party!
I am using this golden shimmer (number 4 on my top image) and the same flat ELF smudge brush.
All you need to do is pick up a little bit of the eyeshadow by dabbing the brush into the eyeshadow (dont overload your brush!), and then gently press it acorss the outer two thirds of the eye!

Now, take a black pencil liner, like this MUA Glitter Pencil liner in 'starry night'(£1), and just line your water line - this gives the eye lovely shape and makes the colour of your eye shine through!

My Favourite part!! Lashings of Lashes!!
Just take an eyelash curler if you have one, and curl each set of lashes, holding the curler in place for 10 seconds - don't worry this wont ruin your eyeliner or eyeshadow!
After the lashes are nicely curled jut apply your favourite mascara - I'm using Benefits 'They're Real' mascara (see my post all about it here) (£19.50)

If you're wearing this look on date night, or to a party, it can be nice to add some false lashes for extra girly-ness!
Im wearing these MUA false lashes in Sassy (£2)!
The best way to apply your lashes is to take them from the packet and hold them against your eye to see if they need trimming down to your eyeshape. Then hold them in a pair of tweezers and apply some eyelash glue, wait until this is tacky and then carefully press them very close to your lashline!

This step isnt part of the eye look and some girls may disagree - but when I am wearing a bold eye look like this, I always try to wear a more natural or nude colour on my lips - it makes the look balanced and not OTT! I am choosing this ELF Long Wear pencil Lip Liner in 'Natural Blush' (£1.50).

You look Gorgeous Glam!!
Your new eye look is complete and ready to go!

But dont forget to remove it when your done! Your eye skin is so delicate and is one of the first places to age, so always, Always, ALWAYS remove your eye make up - even after a long night out!
I am using this Nivea Double effect eye make up remover (£3.59), I love it because it has the strength to remove waterproof mascara but it so gentle to the skin - it doesn't even need to be rubbed on! It also cares for your eyelashes - BONUS!
When removing your eye makeup, always rub or press the remover with your ring finger, as this is the finger that applies least pressure - keeping your delicate eyes as beautiful as they are!

Lecture over! hehe!
